Alright, you need anything? Cool. I'm gonna head out. Hey, Walt. No, you're good. I'm actually, uh, as long as you don't mind if I'm driving at the time, I'm good. Speaker 1 00:00:46 What do you, what do you do there? You said footlocker, right? Oh, food locker. Well, then that's more self-explanatory than the footlocker. Okay. Speaker 2 00:01:08 Cool. Speaker 2 00:01:55 Mhm. Speaker 1 00:03:22 Now, when you say linear speed, how would you define that. Speaker 3 00:03:32 Spreading speed, get-up-and-go, top-end, if that makes sense. Speaker 1 00:03:41 Oh, yeah, absolutely. I would actually, honestly, I think top-end, both of them, I mean, I'd love to see better top-end, meaning, I'm assuming when you say top-end, we're talking max speed. Speaker 3 00:04:03 Top-end being beyond 10 yards, so, yeah, beyond their acceleration. Speaker 1 00:04:10 But I think a lot of their problem is actually in the acceleration, you know? Like, Ben, what's funny is once he starts sprinting, he's actually not, I mean, he's not fast, but he's not... You know, dying, but it takes him, I'm just going to exaggerate here. It takes him 10 yards to get there, you know? Right. And they're so, they're so heavy on their toes or on their feet. It's just like, you know, Eric was asking me why I was, it's like, why can't I just juggle? Speaker 1 00:04:41 Like, why do you keep on making me kick the ball against the, you know, and that's this week, by the way, not, you know, why, why do I have to kick the ball against the wall a couple of feet away? And I'm like, cause you're so heavy on your toes. You know, on your feet, not on your toes, you know. Speaker 3 00:04:57 Right. Yeah. So when I talk about linear speed, acceleration is part of that. And then a topic, but definitely acceleration is always, is always, always, always the driving force, right? Especially, you know, especially a game like soccer or basketball would be another example. You know, it rules the roof, rules the day. Right. But, so, I, you know, I'm just really grateful for the fact that you had the, Speaker 3 00:05:30 I'm probably grateful you sat on it for three weeks because, you know, I think your thinking and thought process and your delivery was wonderful. So, I want to, you know, commend you on that, you know, in your own management experience and moving forward. So, it was a very, very good delivery. I appreciate that. As well, so. Speaker 1 00:05:55 I can tell my wife I didn't screw something up. Speaker 3 00:05:58 Yeah, yeah, well, yeah, so, and I'll tell you this, probably because of your delivery and your style, I was able to, you know, I told Esther, I said, because I shared with her, I said, you know, I just, I felt like the delivery was very good, and Coach Izzy was like, yeah, absolutely, you know, everything you've said is spot on, and yeah, I see it, I understand it, and so we discussed why that was, and it was that imbalance, right, and it's, you know, and I, you know, I'm the guy collecting the money, you know, not literally all the time, but, so I always had that feeling that, you know, we need that two-tenths of a second for you guys, no matter what it takes. Speaker 3 00:06:47 uh you know blood blood guts on the training yeah well and i can understand her side of it too. Speaker 1 00:06:53 and just just so you know i told matt that i told you so i ran into him like just so you know i i i ruined your confidence so um you know so he yeah so uh skyler's dad knows that we had the conversation he was actually seemed um uh very gave a very positive reaction to great great i'm i'm no i'm glad you did okay so um but um shoot what was i gonna say i i uh oh well you know i. Speaker 1 00:07:29 I think, you know, when it comes down to it, there's got to be, that's what I was going to say, it's difficult for you guys, because, like, for me, I don't care what my kids think, you know, I mean, I do, but I realize what's best for them and what's not best for them most of the time, but, like, Matt is like, well, I can't get Skyler to do the stretches, and I'm like, shit, that's cute, you know, like, my kids don't, my kids hate doing the stretches, but they do them, they mark it off, and I get a notification when they do it, you know, like, so, but, so I know it's difficult for you guys, too, where, I mean, yeah, because you want the kids to want to be there, you know. Speaker 3 00:08:13 Right, and that's a great example, because Skyler came in injured on Friday, and it's from not doing the, you know, the homework, right? Right. And so, you know, as a parent, you know. you're right you you know and we hope to have parents more parents like you that sit on them at home um at least i do um because that makes the process go all the better right. Speaker 3 00:08:45 and the worst thing the absolute worst thing i'll tell you right now honestly who's not a kid not getting faster a kid getting injured is absolutely the worst thing it's absolutely the worst thing you know it doesn't matter how many kids we make faster if one kid that gets injured is just like undoes anything we've done you know so um, so i'm grateful that you're sitting on top of the boys. Speaker 1 00:09:10 on that yeah well i mean at least making sure they do it i'm not i'm usually not there the timing doesn't work out for me to watch them but uh you know um which is which is why i i start like you know when i when i am there to watch it especially when i'm there, When I'm there at your facility, I start going, okay, what am I seeing? What's being communicated to him, you know, and how can I reinforce it? Or, you know, or do I need to ask questions or whatnot? Speaker 1 00:09:41 So, anyway. Well, I appreciate it. I appreciate the feedback. And I feel like there's a, I was, after I got over talking to you and feeling that, you know, you received it really, really well. And so I was, I was, I didn't have to panic anymore about that. And, and then I was worried that I might have sent the wrong message about Izzy. And I'm glad that she received it well. Yeah. As well, because I didn't want it to, I. Speaker 1 00:10:12 I want to, you know, I told Matt, like, I really hope that it doesn't come across like I was coming at Izzy because I really have no issue. I think Izzy's doing the best that she, you know, believes needs to be done. So I didn't want it to seem like I was hitting her. Speaker 3 00:10:30 Right. And if it was a competency issue, that would be a little more education. And there's always education to be had. Don't get me wrong. That's why we take breaks and recertify and constantly coach. But, you know, the solution, you know, sometimes a solution might be, well, I just don't want this trainer. And that doesn't, you know, that doesn't solve or help, I think, everybody involved in it as well. Speaker 3 00:11:06 So. you know i just appreciate the grace in that and you know my my first when you're talking to me was okay well this is easy i'm just gonna put jasmine with them and i thought well that's not right because uh there's a benefit to actually having you know all three of us touch them it's the same process of it's the same programming but uh there's a benefit of you know when all three of us touch you know touch them at some level so right i mean that's a thought that kind of where. Speaker 3 00:11:38 you brought me in and through this thinking and this process good but i can i was literally right. Speaker 1 00:11:47 before you called me i was telling my my foreman it's like hey you know i need you to double check their work and he's and he's like why you know i said because your precision and my precision is dialed in, to a 64th of an inch yeah and and he's been told his whole life that he's precise but he was trained. Speaker 1 00:12:17 by a guy that thought precision was an eighth of an inch yeah yeah and so he just doesn't know that he doesn't know and you have to treat him so yeah and i think that that's a lot of what it is it's just okay let me show you how to get to that to the level that we're trying to get because you you thought you knew and that's okay right but but now now it's time to dial it up great. Speaker 3 00:12:46 example yeah all right well um when do you want to get them in i'm truthfully i mean between. Speaker 1 00:13:01 Mean I don't have a problem bringing I'm I'm we're out on Wednesday and we're leaving town on fun on Wednesday afternoon So I don't think the Wednesday would work, You got time you got time today at 4? My calendar says I do let me check in with my wife and make sure that I didn't I'm not missing anything. Speaker 3 00:13:24 I can shoot you a text back. Yeah, should we text back? What are you it's gonna be with Coach Izzy. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:13:31 She's gonna be spitting she's gonna be looking at me with daggers. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:13:36 No, you know, you're just gonna take it out of the two boys. That's okay. Here you go. Oh, we wish we could have coach. Speaker 1 00:13:43 You know, I know you know those two boys especially and I love them dearly, yeah need to get kicked in the butt you know oh god they yeah we i hate to say this brain but we. Speaker 3 00:14:01 all do help us you know no i mean i keep saying my prayer to god is i'm so glad you know what a wimp i am right you know yeah thank you for knowing what a wimp i am i uh i'll share this. Speaker 1 00:14:16 with you just because you know i was trying to get eric to understand um what happens uh, when you're faced with failure um physically in your in your mind right yeah and so i've been trying to figure this out for a while because he's he's a soccer player right so to get those guys to wear out is you know so i've got a i've got a bench at home and i and i've got an olympic bar. Speaker 1 00:14:50 and i've got a whole setup, And I said, hey, do 10 reps of this bar, just the bar, you know. So he's putting up 45 pounds, which is, I mean, he's a 110-pound kid. It's not, you know. Speaker 3 00:15:03 It's stout, yeah. Speaker 1 00:15:05 So he puts it up 10 times and puts it down, and he's good. And I give him a 45-second break, and we go with another 10, and he gets to 9, and I help him with the last one. And then we get to 10, or to the third set, and he gets to about 8. And I go, keep going, and he racks it. And I go, what are you doing? And I said, keep going. He's like, Dad, I couldn't. I was like, well, now we have to do it all again because I'm here to help you, dude. I was going to spot you. Speaker 1 00:15:37 And I said, but I needed to show you, right? And so fourth set, he goes, he gets six reps out, and he starts struggling. And I said, do another one. And he's like, I can't do another one. Right. So he gets seven up. He gets eight up and and he goes to put nine up and he's really, really, you know, you can tell he's and he drops the bar on himself. Now, mind you, I knew this was going to happen. So I caught it before it hit him. Right. And and he's like, I said, what happened? He's like, I can't do it. I did. I said, well, let me take you through this whole progression, dude. Speaker 1 00:16:18 So, you know, what should have happened is you should have stalled. Right. Right. But you panicked and then you dropped the bar on yourself. And that was the way that your body, your mind reacted to physical failure. I love it. I love it. What are we going to do about that? Right. And and so then we had a good little he's like, can you do it to Ben, too? I love it. Can you do it to Ben, too? Yeah, perfect. Speaker 3 00:16:48 I love it. Speaker 1 00:16:49 It's awesome. Anyways, I won't keep you. I think you're at your next location. Bye. How are you. Speaker 3 00:16:57 Okay. Sounds good. Shoot me a text. Let me know if Florida's okay. You got it. Thanks. Thanks, man. Bye. Speaker 1 00:18:35 hello how you doing huh how you doing good good hey uh so you played, the game on saturday where you had to cover active center mid right yeah how'd you feel during that. Speaker 1 00:19:07 i'm good but i was a bit tired yeah yeah i mean dude you didn't i i don't think coach could tell but i could tell you i could you know you were super tired right not that much so tell me why. Speaker 4 00:19:27 you want to do rowing instead of running because i want to row because i feel like i've been running, i want to do something different. Speaker 1 00:19:44 Didn't you do something different the other day. Speaker 4 00:19:47 No, that was only for exercise. That wasn't like actual running. Speaker 1 00:19:53 What do you mean?
